How and when to obtain test results from the surgery

Getting your test results

The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.

It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

Blood test results

Your doctor or nurse may advise blood tests to aid diagnosis and treatment, or you may need regular blood tests for your medical condition.

  • Non-urgent Adult Blood tests are now routinely carried out at the surgery and there may be a short wait for your appointment.
  • Childrens blood tests are carried out at other community sites

Please note if you are having diabetes or cholesterol tests then you will need to be starved for about 12 hours prior to the blood test.
